NEW YORK, June 29, 2006 — Upoc Networks will be providing mobile chat and community functionality to Virgin Mobile USA customers. The service will be available to all Virgin Mobile phones through a WAP browser or via SMS.
Upoc’s mobile community will provide Virgin Mobile USA customers with access to more than 20,000 messaging groups. The community is primarily populated with user-generated affinity groups, which enables users to chat on various topics. Additionally, users will be able to create their own personal messaging groups and invite their friends to participate.
“Virgin Mobile USA is committed to finding new ways to give our customers the value and services they need to enhance their wireless lives,” said Dominick Tolli, vice president of product management and development for Virgin Mobile USA. “By partnering with Upoc, we can help our users make the connections that are important to them and provide another tool for building their own distinct communities.”
Upoc intends to expand the service to include community MMS, IVR (interactive voice response) services and premium SMS text messaging programs in the following quarters, in an effort to bring a comprehensive mobile chat & community platform to Virgin Mobile’s customers.
